The Blog
My posts begin in my journals; cursive script scratched on paper with fountain pens. Fountain pens might be a fetish of sorts but I enjoy writing in cursive; I very much dislike the feel of ballpoint. Fountain pens provide a good alternative. Something I did not need to share but did.
Writing in cursive gives me time to think and a chance to learn what I think. Words flow, liquid and meandering from somewhere in my mind, testing logic, weighing evidence and seeking insight. Often enough, by time I reach the end of an entry I realize I do not think what I thought I thought.
I rewrite the journal entries to try to make them better. Stream of consciousness tends to wander and use too many passive verbs. Passive verbs bore me and I assume they will bore you. Sometimes, I dig into old journals to find what I thought in the past. If I post from older journals, I intend to note when I recorded the original. Since ADHD and I share my head, I may miss this notation on occasion.
Who I (think) I am
Not much to say about myself. Just a farm kid from Wisconsin who identifies as an old hippie. I use a wheelchair to get around. I play tabletop RPGs with friends and have done for more than a decade. I am a Marxist (Groucho) in that I never wanted to belong to a club that would have me as a member, but I do belong to MENSA. This gives me a slight arrogance I try to keep in control. Desperation and luck led to an enjoyable career away from here but I eventually returned to Wisconsin because I missed the snow.
I started this blog many years ago but stopped due to illness and recovery. I continue to write every day. It feels time to start sharing.
